Andrew McClymont is a cinematographer based in Sydney, Australia.

Unlike many of his contemporaries, Andrew has been lucky enough to gain substantial experience across almost all facets of modern camera work. Courtesy of his traineeship and tenure at Australia’s national broadcaster, ABC-TV Sydney, Andrew’s skills-set includes current affairs and newsgathering, documentary, sports, reality, and both television and cinema dramatic features. More recently, he has concentrated on television and cinema advertising, and music video production.

Driven by a very strong technical background, Andrew’s knowledge of camera systems, formats, and post-production requirements can only be described as ‘comprehensive’. This includes remarkable detail concerning high-definition acquisition, green-screen techniques, colourimetry, and acquisition standards, amongst many others.

Balancing this intense technical background is an artistic and creative mindset.

Visually, Andrew is always seeking a differentiator between simply recording an image, and making an emotional impact. This extends to a thorough understanding of lighting, the editing process, and the need to embrace a director’s vision, whilst balancing time constraints and the requirement to make a filmed piece cut together to tell a story.

Andrew’s cinematic style is literally at the cutting edge, calling on all the techniques and skills earned over many years on film sets large and small, and locations around the world. His obvious strengths in hand-held and action-oriented entertainment, especially stunt and automotive work, are augmented by an ability to produce beautiful lighting for any type of production.

Additionally, he is adept in greenscreen and VFX shooting for commercials and television.
